When asked on Aug. 20 while visiting a West Yorkshire waste site whether the government would fund the couple’s security, U.K. Prime Minister Andy Burnham called the issue "a private matter," saying it was for Harry and Meghan and wishing them well in their move.
The Telegraph later explained Burnham meant the topic shouldn’t be debated publicly and that responsibility for security rests with the Home Office and the committee in charge, not the prime minister.
